The Association's policy has always been not only to register dogs
from registered parents but to register ANY dog that can obtain a sufficiently
high standard of work,
dogs that are good enough but of unregistered
ancestry may be included by obtaining 50 points at any qualified trial or can be inspected by the WAWSDA's
Inspectors for inclusion in the register.
REGISTRATION RULES 15TH NOV 1979 (AS REPRINTED
1997)
The register shall be known as the West Australian Sheep Dog Register and shall be kept by the Registrar of the Association.
2. PERSONS ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER DOGS
All applicants for registration must be financial members of a working sheep dog club affiliated to the West Australian Working Sheep Dog Association.
3. DOGS ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION
FEE
(a)
Any dog from a registered litter
$ 10:00
(b)
Any progeny from registered parents
$ 10:00
(c) Any dog transferred from
a recognized working sheep dog register.
$ 5:00
(d) Any dog scoring 80 points
or more and penning in a recognized Arena trial
(AA title)
$ 2:00
(e) Any dog scoring 50 points
or more in a recognized Arena trial. (A title)
$ 4:00
(f)
Any working sheep dog approved by the Association's Inspectors.
$10:00
(g) Dogs which score 75%
of possible points or win a novice Yard or Utility
trial
All applicants are to be made
on official forms, available from the Registrar.
All applicants under rule 3 (b)
must also be accompanied by a copy of the dog's pedigree giving full name,
date of birth registration details of the Sire and Dam, and be signed by the
breeder. Or a valid transfer certificate may suffice.
4. NAMING OF DOGS
(a)
Each breeder must register a separate prefix for use exclusively by the
dogs bred by them

(b) The death of a breeder automatically
cancels their registered prefix, and that prefix may be reused subject
to the Committee’s approval.
(c) Each dog submitted
for registration must be named, such name must not exceed one word
in addition to
the breeder's prefix, which must be used.
(d) Dog's names once registered
cannot be changed.
(e) Dog's names once registered
cannot be used again.
(f) The name and address of each
breeder must be given.
(g) The breeder of a dog is the
owner of the dam at the date of its progenies birth.
(h) Change of prefix: - If a
breeder wishes to cancel their prefix they may register a new prefix
by paying a
new
registration fee under rule 4(a)
5. REGISTRATION OF LITTERS
Only litters from registered
parents are eligible and full names and registration
numbers of the Sire and Dam must
be given.
If the litter is registered within
90 days of the birth, Fee :- $

6. TRANSFERS
The vendor must officially transfer
every registered animal sold. If such
transfers are made within 60
from the date of sale fee :- $ 2:00

7. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES
These will be issued by the Registrar when the application has been approved. Duplicate registration certificates are available on payment of a double fee, e.g. $4. 00 or $10. 00.
8. PENALTIES
Any applicant who makes a false statement, or fails to return, or unreasonable delays any information requested by the registrar, may be refused registration.
9. ALTERATION OF REGISTER RULES
These rules shall not be altered
or added to, unless notice of the proposed alteration or addition shall
have been given by the Secretary of the WAWSDA in writing to the Association
Delegates, at least 21 days prior to the Committee
meeting at which the motion
is to be considered and the motion must be carried by a majority of
the Committee Members present at the meeting.
10. CORRECTIONS TO THE REGISTRER
If a breeder advises a mistake in the published register an addendum may be produced by the registrar showing corrections.
