Mayanup Working Sheep Dog Club hosted the second arena trial of the
year, Due to time limitations and
large entries the Open and Improver classes were combined this year,
so one run counted for the two events.
The weather was lovely, the sheep were very testing as usual
with mixed results all round. Neil Kristiansen and Doug
Connop fought a hard 3 rounds in the open with both dogs deserving
a win, but Polar pipped Tim at the post.

Central Districts Working Sheep Dog Club hosts the first arena trial
of the year in conjuntion with Woolorama. T Boyle was
last years winner with Boylee Salt, this year he was pipped to the
post by two points, with Doug Connop and Christies Moon winning the Championship.
As well as taking 2nd place with Boylee Pepper, Tony also gained 4th place
with Boylee Creamy, and 5th place with Boylee Shaker. Doug Connop took
3rd place with Glenview Mitzi. The sheep were young and touchy, with many
dogs having trouble holding on to them, as a consequence the overall scores
were low. The weather was not helpful with a return to very hot conditions
after the last two years of unusually kind weather.

first place open. Murrey Bell also did well with 1st novice and 2nd
place in Improver.
The weather was lovely and as this trial is usually held in mid
winter this was a welcome change, the sheep were very testing as usual
however resulting in some of the lowest scores seen in an Open event for
some time.

AUG 2002
Stirling Working Sheep Dog Club hosts the third arena trial of
the year. The weather was miserable for the first couple of days
the sheep responded likewise and the lower than usual scores are a
result, G Cook did well to get 3rd place novice first
time out with home bred Grassvalley Brook,B Dalton also did well with
his 2 litter mates sired by his Daheim Dan,2 second places in novice
and improver. The open was a tightly fought battle between the first 3
dogs, this win gained Polar a representative position, with lisa having
to run off at the next trial to decide her fate with Boylee Pepper eventually
becoming
the second representative for W.A.

THE FOURTH TRIAL :-NORTHERN DISTRICTS (MURESK)
SEPT 2002
Northern Districts Working Sheep Dog Club hosted this trial in what
is normally pleasent weather conditions at Muresk
Institute of Agriculture near a small town east of Perth called Northam,
however blustery conditions tested men, dogs and sheep alike, but
the stormy rains were welcome by some for the crops if not by the judges.
Congradulations are due to T Boyle as the first 3 dogs placed in the open
were bred by him, with the 2nd and 3rd places going to dogs he worked.
K Atherton had a great trial with home bred Ramulam Darcy taking out
2nd place novice and going on to win the improver class. Ken then went
on to win the open event with Boylee Doug.

More horrific weather, and testing but good trial sheep. no doubt but
it was Neil Kristiansen's trial with his dog Princes
Tim winner of both improver and Open classes.Tim had been sold by Greg
Prince during his visit to the West last year
(see 2001 results), however he did not settle with his new owner and
so he came to Neil with whom he appears to have
established a clear bond and a fine working partnership, one can see
a really great future for them both.
Dave Lacey, with his homebred VB and Di was also close with 4th and
5th in the open class. Ken Atherton having won
the novice with homebred Feathers was pipped at the post by five points
with Boylee Doug, who was bred by the Judge T Boyle, and has proved himselve
already with a Championship win..

THE SIXTH TRIAL:-ESPERANCE SHOW 2002
In mainly pleasent conditions with the exception of a violent
overnight storm on the first day, with very changeble and at times positively
awful sheep, competitors once again proved them selves and their
dogs with some fine work, the winning open dog Christies Polar gaining
an almost perfect score in the final run. Locals Dave Lacey and Ken
Bridges had good trials with a
1st place Improver for Ken and & 3rd Place for Dave plus his three
qualifiers in the final, O'Kanes Buddy, Boylee Sandy, and
Akoonah Di. Finals dogs needed to score over 87 to qualify with several
scoring over 90, the sheep hit a really bad patch during the running of
this event, and unfortunatly many of the top score came to grief on their
second run.

Central Districts Working Sheep Dog Club hosts the first arena trial
of the year in conjuntion with Woolorama. T Boyle was
last years winner with Boylee Creamy, and he pulled the hat trick by
winning the Championship again this year with Boylee Salt as well as taking
1st place improver with Boylee Sweetpea.Most people came away having a
good weekend with the weather being much kinder this year.

2001
Mayanup Working Sheep Dog Club hosted the second arena trial of the
year, T Boyle once again dominated the
classes taking out the 1st, 2nd places in the Open, Jenny Nolan
also did well with 2nd and 3rd places in Improver.
The weather and the sheep were very testing resulting in some
of the lowest scores seen in an Open event for some time.

THE FOURTH TRIAL :-NORTHERN DISTRICTS (SOUTHERN
CROSS) SEPT 2001
Northern Districts Working Sheep Dog Club hosted this trial in what
is normally sunny Southern Cross
a small town servicing a large mine in the far east of W.A.The blustery
conditions tested men, dogs and sheep alike.
However the stormy rains were welcome by some for the crops if not
by the judges, G Cook (ND Secretrary)
was the open winner with Grass Valley Lisa, congradulations are due
as this was Grants first Championship win and the winning run was being
the last run of the final keep every one guessing until the last moment,
it was greatly admired by all watching.

At last some delightful weather, and testing but good trial sheep.
The Eastern States visiter Mr Greg Prince
took all before him, with 3rd in the novice, 1st in the Improver, and
the 1st, 2nd, and 4th in the 3rd in Open Championship.
3rd in Improver, and 1st in the Novice. With WAs Doug Connop, Dave
Lacey, and Ivan Solomon, the best Local lads
on the day.

THE SIXTH TRIAL:-ESPERANCE SHOW 2001
In windy but mainly pleasent conditions, with very changeble
and at times positively awful sheep, competitors
once again were treated to a top performance by the visiting
RAS Judge Mr Greg Prince, with four dogs in
the final Greg took 1st, equel 2nd with WAWSDA's President Wayne
Hall and Avalon Bandit, 3rd, and 5th
places. This was Bandit's last run before retirement, Greg also
run his last novice dog of his WA visit out of the
Novice grouping by winning with Tim. Local Dave Lacey had a good
trial with his 1st place Improver & 2nd Place

classes with Murry taking out the 1st, 3rdf, & 5th places

is normal for the time of year, J Charlick is amongst the oldest triallers
in the WAWSDA since 1966, it is good to see him still

Esperance & Districts Working Sheep Dog Club hosts the fifth
arena trial of the year in conjuntion with the Ongerup Shears
competition.. A carnival atmosphere prevails at this event, and this
combined with some very bad weather did not help settle
the sheep, Tony who judged the Open event detemined to make the bet
of it however, and took out the top minor class
placings.
